Abstract Palms ( Arecaceae ) contribute remarkable economic and environmental values to human life. However, many elite commercial palm species are becoming critically endangered demand immediate action preserve their genetic resources. Cryopreservation has established itself as the definitive in vitro conservation method for recalcitrant-seeded species, such those within . Progress this area moved steadily forward over last three decades with development of various techniques different explants genotypes molecular testing methods ensure fidelity is maintained regenerants. There remains a key challenge properly identify components that will enable long-term palms using cryopreservation. This review methodically analyzes state-of-the-art cryopreservation developed places them practical framework. framework encompasses four underlying components, namely tissue culture approaches required, recalcitrant nature seed, cryobiology cryogenic assessment after Through critical analysis framework, further optimization protocols more fundamental studies on physiological changes cryopreserved tissues recommended.
